Welcome to Secret Breakfast / An exclusive newsletter, the best place to start your day studying rules of civility, edible economics, and hot oil peanut butter noodles

Let’s play “Hungry, Not Hungry”.

Hi there!

First things first… welcome to new Spanish-speaking readers: how did you get here? Please, drop me a line and tell me.

Second, you all do not know but you just gave me a fantastic birthday present. How? Not getting hungry the newsletter is one day late, and tolerating today’s issue does not have the usual structure.

Third, yeah I might have mixed up Simone Veil and Simone Weil a couple of days ago (thanks Sandra!), so: I’m sorry about that, I’ll try not to write this during the night when I feel like a zombie and no Pedro Pascal is around to bring me to bed.

Enjoy the following stuff!

✦ Amor Towles, Rules of Civility. And it goes on: “For what was civilization but the intellect’s ascendancy out of the doldrums of necessity (shelter, sustenance and survival) into the ether of the finely superfluous (poetry, handbags and haute cuisine)?”.

★★★☆☆

This one is not new, but it has a killer blurb by Brian Eno: “The only book I've ever read that made me laugh, salivate and re-evaluate my thoughts about economics – all at the same time. A funny, profound and appetising volume”.
