Instant noodles, while in the tub, wearing a bathrobe: #1 of bad choices

Hi there!

It’s not a mystery that the feelings that are generated in your body when you’re hungry can screw up your life. Hungry people who simply do not reflect on their emotions are more likely to misinterpret them and end up more angry and punitive.

Then - thank you for asking - why many of us are on a diet in September?

Healthy choices, probably. A better way of eating. Less frying and buttering.

At least be careful with people who are lowering their calorie intake during this autumn: hunger can warp minds, break friendships, and make the workplace implode.

You can still protect yourself from bad decisions or extremely irritable people: just bring with you the mighty power of a piece of chocolate.

THE BEST QUOTE

Roberto Bolaño, Amulet. Good quote about love, but also about wine.

THE MISSING INGREDIENT

WELCOME TO HELL

Ok, we have the Most Photographed Restaurants of 2023 on Yelp (are you still using it?) and we have a winner with about 32k clicks: Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen in Vegas, where you can have scallops, Beef Wellington and Toffee Pudding for about 100$.

Not enough for you? Somewhere I’ve found this Map of the Best Restaurants. Have you ever visited one?

THE BOOK

In Her Plus-Sized Life

★★★☆

We take a deep dive into high-level chick-lit, today. Abby is f-word and she loves sex and food. She’s the daughter of an almond mom. She’s with this tool who eats baba ghanouj with a spoon instead of scooping it up with pita chips, has bunless turkey burgers, and throws away leftover pork buns. She gotta get rid of that monster! Luckily for us, Abby meets a guy who can make edible leftover pasta, just adding cheese and garlic. Now you have your novel.

Great reporting and photographs from one of the sickest places to be. Or, in my case, not to be. Ever.

“We live in a world that is dominated by sound and vision; by screens and social media, beeps, background noise and traffic. Between scrolling, typing, communicating and commuting, it’s easy to forget the power of flavour to focus our minds on the present and carve out a moment in time. Which is why we shouldn’t settle for bland flavours”.

Last week's most clicked link was the one about the Japanese planner I ordered for 2024. And that's all for today.
